TARA focuses its efforts
on research and education. Fundraising is the most significant way
in which we can reach our ultimate goals. TARA's Fundraising
responsibilities include: general fundraising issues, major
fundraising campaigns and events to raise funds, as well as the
solicitation of donations and contributions.
The programs established
are as follows:
General Issues:
develop
strategies and fundraising packets; collect and review ideas from
members; work with the Treasure in determining all legal reporting
and state registration requirements; identify the legal requirements
of all fundraising ideas before approval; and determine if it is
cost effective to sponsor each specific fundraising idea; work with
TARA members to achieve these ends.
Campaigns and Events:
help coordinate:
the United Way Campaign in accordance with OPM and other Federal
regulations, Celebrity Auctions, National Donut Sales; conduct the
"Annual Fundraising Campaign"; help organize events to raise funds -
walk-a-thons, dance marathons, bake sales, cookbook sales,
pot-luck-dinners, and special events involving restaurants and
musical bands; supervise the Employee Matching Gift program.
1) Working with your
employer, you can make your contributions go even further. Many
corporations in the United States will match their employee’s
contributions to qualifying nonprofit organizations, often doubling
or sometimes even tripling the amount of the contribution. Your
employer may be one of these companies. To find out, simply ask
check with your company's personnel department. If your company does
indeed match gifts, you need simply obtain a form from your company
and send it TARA along with your contribution. TARA can then follow
up to arrange for payment of the matching contribution. Your company
may have a matching gift program even though you have never heard
about it. It never hurts to ask.
Donations and
Contributions:
TARA collects and acknowledge all donations- general, etc with a
receipt; TARA is currently developing - "Ask for Money" and
"Ask for Stuff" letters to be used by everyone; identifying funding
and "donation in kind" opportunities- such items, as computers,
office supplies, and printing services through possible sources-
Drug Companies, Corporate Sponsors, Private sources, and Grants;
also managing the Gift "In Memory of" and "In Honor of"
contributions.
1) A memorial
contribution is a particularly meaningful way to remember friends
and loved ones while helping TARA to expand its important programs.
A "gift in honor" is a special way to recognize a friend or loved
while also benefiting TARA. With each contribution received, an
acknowledgment card is sent to the appropriate person or family
named. It would be most helpful, if you included the name and
address of the person you would like notified of your contribution.
The amount given is never indicated on the cards unless requested.
The donor will also receive an acknowledgement of their
contribution, which you many use as a possible tax deduction. You
can send your memorial or "gift in honor of" contributions to: TARA,
