Disability Benefits

Disability Insurance (US) - Don't feel guilty. This is an earned benefit. You wouldn't feel guilty about insurance if your car was wrecked or your house burned down. For all those on disability, especially those that collecting SSDI, check your personal insurance, especially your life insurance to see if you have "waiver of premium" benefit. Waiver of premium, waives the premium that might come due while you're disabled. Check it out. It might save you a lot of money. If you have this benefit, use it if you can. You've been paying for it!

Short Term Disability - Research it.  Is State disability available? Is there short term disability through your employer? State employees and unions may have additional benefits. Keep looking.
 

Long Term Disability (LTD) -  LTD policies may be denied if you had Takayasu's Arteritis before taking the position at your company, due to pre-existing conditions clauses. Check anyhow. You may already have an employee welfare benefit plans.
